“Mokpokpo Suku” meaning “School of Hope” in the local language is one of the ministries of YWAM Noépé. The vision of having the school came out of the need to provide basic education to the children from the surrounding communities. In fact as there was no schools close by, the children were either walking far distances to get to school causing unsafe situations or not attending school at all. Now through Mokpokpo Suku they have the opportunity to receive a good education without having to put themselves in danger.
The school started in October 2000 with only elementary classes and approximately 20 to 30 students total. Today we have approximately 250 students when we combine both our elementary and secondary schools. These students not only receive a normal academicals education but are also taught about God and His characteristics. Our teachers are encouraged to see the support of the parents through how happy they are with the results and the transformation in their children since being in our school.
If you would like to be involved in the development of this ministry there are many ways to do so. We believe in the strength in relationships and that is why we would like to invite you to come and witness Mokpokpo Suku to meet the children and staff for yourself! You do not need to be a trained teacher to come and volunteer with us. We also believe in the power of prayer and those who are called to be intercessors. If praying for us interests you, here are a few prayer points to help you pray effectively for us.
1) For the teachers to as they are trying to disciple these kids.
2) Pray for spiritual breakthrough as most of the kids are from voodoo families.
3) For financial provision whether to support the teachers, the students (as a lot of them are from poor or broken families) and of the administration and building of the school.
